An Unexpected Destination

Scotland

Travel has been a part of my identity for as long as I can remember. I was fortunate to take incredible trips growing up and see first hand the landmarks I had read about in school, experience new cultures and traditions, and immerse myself in a place’s history. It expanded my view of the world and made me dream of a global life, although at the time I didn’t really know what that might look like.

In college, I studied abroad which gave me a gateway to destinations I had only ever dreamed of, traveling to. At 23, I traveled to Haiti with the State Department and at 26 I traveled to Pakistan with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Traveling to places not frequented by tourists was a gift. It made me appreciate the world in a new way and it fueled my desire to experience more, to learn more, and to appreciate the immense diversity this world offers.

Fast forward nearly two decades and I am privileged to say that I have visited 60 countries, many of which would have been unlikely without my career and I am deeply grateful for that.

Travel, especially international travel, brings me incomparable joy. Not just the act of traveling and being somewhere different from home, but the entire process. Planning the trip is half the fun for me. If it’s somewhere new, I scour Reddit, blogs, social media, and articles. I talk to friends, make spreadsheets, change my Duolingo language. I research the food and where to eat, possible day trips and activities, and the pros and cons of staying in one neighborhood over another. I look at how I can maximize the value of my credit card points, where an Airbnb might make sense, and where it’s worth splurging. When I’m returning to somewhere I’ve been many times, I’ll see what exhibits are at my favorite museums, if there are any performances I want to see, and what new restaurants have opened.

And then when I land, after a hopefully smooth journey, I feel my senses come alive as I realize, after weeks or months of planning….I’ve arrived.

When USAID was shut down in 2025, the ground fell out beneath me, like it did for the tens of thousands of foreign aid workers. As I thought about what came next, it seemed like a natural pivot to channel my love of travel, exploration, and planning into helping others who may not have the time or inclination to do the research and planning. Whether it’s a weekend getaway, a milestone trip, or a family vacation, I will take the same care and attention to detail as when I’m planning my own trips.

I look forward to helping others create lasting memories, discover the wonders this world has to offer, and come home with a deeper appreciation for just how big, and how beautifully connected, our world truly is.

This blog is where I’ll share destination guides, planning tips, lessons learned, and stories from the road. Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or booking your first international trip, I hope something here sparks your next adventure. And if you’re ready to start planning, I’d love to help.

The world is waiting.
